Murdo Mitchell’s journey is a testament to years of hard work, determination and talent. His musical path began at the age of 11, inspired by his father's punk albums and his first guitar with an amp, which he bought for £75 at the famous Barras Market. After teaching himself three chords, Murdo took to the streets of Glasgow, playing Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” for three hours and earning £50 (he even shared £20 with his sister). This early triumph ignited Mitchell’s passion for performing and led to support slots for friends, most notably Dylan John Thomas and to the realization of a dream when he joined Glen Hansard on the UK leg of his European tour.
To hone his craft, Mitchell rented a studio in London and connected with some of the UK’s finest artists, absorbing their experience and channeling those insights into his own artistry.
Murdo Mitchell sets himself apart from others in the genre with his unique blend of catchy pop melodies and indie sensibility. His distinctive timbre carries an alluring magic that defines his sound. Thematically his compositions revolve around love, grief and self-discovery, offering a balance of thoughtfulness and introspection
